Job DescriptionLutheran Hospital is seeking a dedicated UrgentCare Medical Director to lead its RediMed practice in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Thisleadership role offers the opportunity to combine clinical excellence withstrategic oversight, guiding a well-established urgent care and occupationalhealth program that serves both the community and local employers through acomprehensive service line.
This full-time position offers a highly desirable schedule of 14 twelve-hour shifts per month , no call, and the opportunity to practice in a collaborative urgent care and occupational medicine setting.

Experience with occupational health services-such as workers' compensation care and employer-based programs-is highly valuable. Role Overview and Responsibilities
This leadership role offers the opportunity to combine clinical excellence with strategic oversight, guiding a well-established urgent care and occupational health program that serves both the community and local employers through a comprehensive service line. While primarily clinical, the Medical Director will receive 24 administrative hours per month to support Medical Director duties, making the role approximately 85% clinical and 15% administrative.
- Clinical Duties: Evaluate and treat a broad range of acute illnesses, injuries, and occupational health conditions, perform common office procedures, including laceration repair, incision and drainage (I&D), wart removal, ingrown toenail removal, and treatment of sprains, strains, and fractures; Perform comprehensive patient assessments, establish diagnoses, and develop treatment plans, and order and interpret diagnostic studies, including laboratory tests, EKGs, and X-rays.
- Leadership & Oversight: Provide clinical leadership and oversight for urgent care and occupational medicine services; Develop and implement clinical protocols, quality initiatives, and best practices; Ensure regulatory compliance, patient safety, and operational excellence; Partner with administration to optimize workflows and program performance. Key responsibilities include overseeing and working closely with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), driving quality improvement initiatives, and conducting chart reviews.
- Occupational Medicine: You will lead employer health services, including the management of workers' compensation injury care, DOT physicals, employer partnerships, and MRO services.
- Operations: You will oversee the development of clinical protocols and ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
An ideal candidate is a clinically strong, team oriented physician who combines hands-on patient care with effective leadership.
- Education: Board certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Occupational Medicine experience is a plus.
- Certifications: NRCME and MRO certification are required. While these certifications are required, the hospital will assist the right candidate in obtaining them within the first 90 days.
- Experience: Prior leadership experience and a background in urgent care and occupational medicine are strongly preferred but not strictly required.
