Description
The Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer is responsible for providing executive leadership and strategic direction for Southwell’s financial operations and long-term financial strategy.
The CFO serves as the principal financial advisor to the President & CEO and works closely with the Board of Directors and appropriate Board committees regarding financial performance, strategic investments, capital planning, risk, and long-term sustainability.
The CFO will be expected to bring both financial discipline and strategic imagination to the position.
Major responsibilities include:
Provide strategic financial counsel to the President & CEO, Board of Directors, Executive Leadership Team, and operational and physician leaders.
Lead the development of Southwell’s short- and long-range financial strategy in alignment with the organization’s strategic plan.
Ensure the organization maintains strong operating performance, liquidity, cash flow, and balance sheet strength.
Lead annual operating and capital budgeting, long-range financial planning, forecasting, financial reporting, and performance management.
Provide leadership for revenue cycle, reimbursement, managed care strategy, and payer relationships.
Strengthen financial performance across the hospital, physician enterprise, ambulatory operations, and other business units.
Develop disciplined capital allocation processes that balance strategic growth, infrastructure needs, technology investments, clinical quality, and financial sustainability.
Partner closely with operational and clinical leaders to identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, access, and performance.
Provide financial leadership for physician recruitment, service-line development, new programs, partnerships, joint ventures, and other strategic growth opportunities.
Maintain effective relationships with auditors, financial institutions, rating agencies, regulatory agencies, and other external financial partners.
Ensure appropriate financial controls, regulatory compliance, reporting integrity, and stewardship of organizational assets.
Continue developing sophisticated financial analytics, business intelligence, and decision-support capabilities throughout the organization.
Explore opportunities to leverage artificial intelligence, automation, and emerging technologies to improve financial and operational performance.
Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain an exceptional finance leadership team.
Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Financial Sustainability
Ensure Southwell remains financially strong while continuing to invest strategically in its mission and communities.
Payer and Reimbursement Strategy
Navigate the continued evolution of Medicare Advantage, governmental reimbursement, commercial payer relationships, regulatory changes, and other reimbursement pressures affecting health systems.
Growth and Capital Allocation
Develop financial strategies supporting physician recruitment, ambulatory expansion, clinical program development, technology, facilities, and other strategic investments.
Physician Enterprise Performance
Partner with physician and operational leaders to strengthen access, productivity, financial performance, and long-term sustainability across the employed physician enterprise.
Revenue Cycle Excellence
Continue improving revenue integrity, cash acceleration, denial prevention, reimbursement performance, and patient financial experience.
Data, Analytics and Artificial Intelligence
Advance Southwell’s use of analytics, automation, artificial intelligence, and business intelligence to improve forecasting, decision-making, productivity, and financial performance.
