Position Description:
The Envirome Institute (EI) at the University of Louisville (UofL) is accepting applications for a Research Technician I to work as a team member on ongoing clinical studies and translational clinical research projects. The primary focus of this position is to support wastewater based epidemiology work which has monitored wastewater samples to assess pathogens and evidence of pollution since 2020. Candidate should be highly motivated, well organized, and able to work independently within a highly interdisciplinary group. Some weekend work will be required. This position is renewable contingent upon funding.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct material sample activities including receiving, collection, transportation, tracking, preparation, analysis, and disposal.
- Organize, clean, track, QA/QC data, and identify opportunities for quality improvement for database management.
- Perform data analysis using Microsoft Excel, R, SASS, SPSS, and other software tools (creating plots and performing statistics) and work collaboratively with other team members to assure consistency in data analysis.
- Exercise independent judgment in the analysis, interpretation, and presentation of research data. This includes but is not limited to drafting research plans, collecting and managing data, and drafting and presenting findings and reports.
- Effectively document complex research procedures and protocols.
- Conduct and draft literature reviews to synthesize relevant information to support assigned projects.
- Draft abstracts and manuscript sections.
- Analyze, interpret, develop reports, and present the results of scientific experiments to the public.
- Maintain daily communication with supervisor on activities and tasks.
- Assists with meetings with external organizations.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA/IRB guidelines/regulations.
- Comply with all safety regulations and infection control standards (sample handling, mailing, etc.).
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
