Requirements
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Occupational Medicine
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience preferred, ideally in occupational medicine, urgent care, emergency medicine, primary care, or sports medicine
- Active or eligible for Michigan medical licensure
- Current DEA registration
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- DOT Medical Examiner certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Familiarity with OSHA guidelines, workers' compensation processes, and regulatory compliance
- Proficiency in minor procedures, evaluation of eye injuries, and musculoskeletal examinations
Duties & Responsibilities
A typical day may include:
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute illnesses and injuries in both urgent care and occupational health settings
- Perform pre-employment, surveillance, return-to-work, and regulatory physical examinations in accordance with organizational and industry standards
- Evaluate and manage work-related injuries and illnesses, including determining work status, treatment plans, and OSHA recordability
- Conduct and interpret occupational health testing, including pulmonary function testing (PFTs), audiometric evaluations, and other screening services
- Perform office-based procedures consistent with urgent care and occupational medicine practice
- Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential medical documentation within the electronic health record
- Communicate effectively with patients, employers, nurse case managers, and interdisciplinary care teams
- Provide clinical oversight and collaborate with APPs and support staff as appropriate
- Educate patients on injury prevention, workplace safety, and healthy lifestyle practices
- Ensure adherence to occupational health regulations, quality standards, and organizational policies
