Role Overview:
This Operations Analyst role supports the Madrid Operations team in the execution of local products and regulatory operational activities across Spain branch.
The role covers a broad range of processes including Taxes, Social Security, Account Administration, Seizures, Paper Instruments, Regulatory Reporting, and operational controls. In addition to day-to-day processing, the successful candidate will contribute to procedure standardization, quality assurance, automation initiatives, and continuous improvement projects.
The position offers significant exposure to cross-functional stakeholders across Operations, Product, Technology, Compliance, and other EMEA branches, providing opportunities to develop expertise in regulatory processes, process optimization, automation, and operational risk management.
Responsibilities:
- Execute day-to-day operational activities related to local products, regulatory processes, and branch operations.
- Perform operational controls, reconciliations, 4-eyes reviews, and evidence management activities in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and update operational procedures, ensuring documentation remains accurate, standardized, and aligned with business requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and strengthen controls through process improvements and automation.
- Support automation initiatives using tools such as Excel, Power Query, Copilot, or similar technologies.
- Partner with Operations teams across EMEA to support harmonization, best practice sharing, and process standardization initiatives.
- Assist with root cause analysis, issue resolution, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders including Product, Compliance, Technology, and Operations teams.
What we are looking for:
- Experience in Operations, Banking Operations, Payments, Regulatory Reporting, or a Back-Office environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify process improvement opportunities.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, pivot tables, lookups, and reporting.
- Ability to work effectively with large volumes of data while maintaining accuracy and close attention to detail.
- Strong risk and control awareness, with a sound understanding of operational procedures and governance requirements.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to work with stakeholders across multiple locations and functions.
- A genuine interest in process improvement, automation, and operational excellence.
Skills that will help (optional):
- Knowledge of local products and processes, such as Taxes, Social Security, Seizures, Cheques, or Account Administration.
- Experience with automation and reporting tools such as Power Query, Power Automate, Alteryx, PowerShell, VBA, or similar technologies.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot.
- Experience with regulatory reporting, operational controls, reconciliations, or quality assurance frameworks.
- Knowledge of evidence management processes and document repositories such as FileNet.
- Experience supporting procedure standardization, process mapping, or operational transformation initiatives.
- Knowledge of Bank systems such as CESIUM, GBS, AWARE, CashPro, or similar platforms.
