Job Title: Manager of Government Affairs
Reports To: Director of Government Affairs
FLSA Category: Exempt
Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000
SUMMARY: The Manager of Government Affairs is responsible for managing all aspects of TIAPAC and developing a grassroots program to engage and activate TIA membership in support of TIA’s policy agenda. As appropriate this position will also support issue education with Congress, federal Agencies, and the Administration. Reporting to the Director of Government Affairs this position will support advocacy, member engagement and issue education for both industry stakeholders and policymakers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manage all aspects of TIA’s Political Action Committee, including fundraising, compliance and budgeting.
2. Design and implement a grassroots and grasstops advocacy strategy to mobilize TIA membership for direct engagement with policymakers.
3. Work with the Director of Government Affairs to implement the overall strategy for TIA policy and advocacy efforts to meet the needs of the 3PL industry and the goals in the Strategic Plan:
I. Execute the TIAPAC and grassroots portions of the government affairs department’s strategic plan.
II. Support TIA’s external relationships with members, associates, other associations, Members of Congress and their staff, and Administrative Agencies.
III. Explore and evaluate new technologies, techniques, approaches, or philosophies for importation into advocacy.
IV. Organize and host an annual Fly-In of TIA members.
4. Support with TIA’s Policy-related Conferences and Committees:
i. Support the conference and committee structure for the development and dissemination of information.
ii. Increase member involvement through the conference and committee involvement.
5. Manage member questions and special projects, reports, guidelines, model contracts, etc.
6. Participate in industry committees and at events representing TIA and the 3PL industry.
7. Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Government Affairs or Director of Government Affairs

Requirements
POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:
- Organized self-starter capable of making independent decisions affecting the development and implementation of all aspects of TIA.
- Accurate, detail oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks and meeting assigned deadlines.
- Excellent telephone and in-person customer service skills.
- Proven experience in working on or with Capitol Hill or Administrative Agencies.
- Proven written communication ability.
- Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to proofread and edit reports, journals, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, members, and the general public.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of opinions and pull into a concise and achievable goal.
- Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software; spreadsheet software; ability to read financial reports; ability to utilize the iMis database; and the ability to utilize government affairs software.

- Work Environment: Hybrid work environment.
- Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
- Travel: To perform this job successfully, an individual may be required to travel, including travel over weekends.
