Description
The House Manager provides day-to-day leadership and operational oversight of an assigned children's residence, creating and maintaining a safe, therapeutic, trauma-informed, and person-centered environment for children and adolescents with intellectual, developmental, behavioral, medical, and physical disabilities.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Residential Services, the House Manager leads the daily operation of the residence and supervises assigned staff. The position coordinates staffing, scheduling, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and interdisciplinary collaboration to support each student's health, safety, dignity, social-emotional well-being, development, and greater independence. The House Manager maintains a flexible schedule and participates in assigned on-call coverage.
Requirements
Provide visible, consistent, and accountable day-to-day leadership of the assigned residence, promoting each student's health, hygiene, safety, dignity, and social-emotional well-being through trauma-informed and person-centered practices.
2 Supervise staff performance and interactions to ensure active engagement with students during structured and unstructured activities and adherence to established expectations, plans, and protocols.
3 Promote safety, trust, empowerment, collaboration, choice, respect, emotional regulation, de-escalation, and relationship-based intervention; recognize behavior as communication.
4 Conduct documented supervision, coaching, staff evaluations, corrective action, reflective supervision, professional development, and performance management in accordance with agency policy.
5 Train and support staff in trauma-informed care, positive behavior supports, sensory regulation, communication strategies, cultural responsiveness, student-centered care, and other required practices.
6 Foster a safe and respectful environment for learning, dialogue, questions, disagreement, collaboration, and timely escalation among supervisors, colleagues, and staff.
7 Manage day-to-day residence operations, including cleanliness, repairs, petty cash and activity accounts, food and meals, standard and emergency supplies, and compliance with applicable regulatory and licensure standards.
8 Develop and maintain staffing schedules and required staff-to-student coverage in accordance with approved staffing plans, mandated ratios, student needs, and agency policy; coordinate call-out coverage through established channels.
9 Maintain timely, professional, and collaborative communication with direct-care staff, colleagues, supervisors, families and guardians, state agencies, and external partners.
10 Partner with Nursing, Education, Behavioral Services, Rehabilitation, families, guardians, and state agencies to support student outcomes, continuity of care, independence, and community participation.
11 Plan, facilitate, and document constructive staff meetings and regularly scheduled or as-needed supervision; attend other meetings and required in-service training.
12 Participate in recruitment, interviews, onboarding, orientation, and role-specific development of residential staff and shift supervisors; recommend qualified candidates for authorized vacancies.
13 Coordinate safe and secure student transportation on campus and in the community in accordance with state requirements and agency transportation policy.
14 Ensure required documentation is complete, accurate, timely, reviewed for quality, and routed appropriately, including health, hygiene, safety, Pica-sweep, data-collection, and other residence records.
15 Maintain confidentiality, ethical practice, and compliance with federal and state law, agency policy, licensing requirements, and mandatory reporting obligations.
16 Understand and professionally represent the agency's obligations, functions, programs, services, mission, and philosophy of care to students, staff, families, and the community.
17 Participate in assigned on-call coverage and remain available by phone and email during standard business hours to address varying student, staffing, administrative, and stakeholder needs.
18 Serve as a resource to Residential leadership and direct-care staff, using established decision-making and escalation pathways.
