ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Director of Business and Operations, the Head of Legal, Risk and Assurance is a newly created senior leadership role that will support the College across legal, governance, compliance, risk and safety matters.
This is a diverse and hands-on role where no two days will look the same. You will work closely with leaders across the College to provide practical advice, strengthen systems and processes, support informed decision-making and help ensure the College continues to operate safely, responsibly and effectively.
The role will also lead and support the College’s Risk and Safety Advisor, helping to build a strong culture of proactive risk management, safety and continuous improvement across the organisation.
This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys building strong relationships, solving problems, thinking strategically and working operationally to get things done.

You will:
- Provide practical, timely and solutions-focused advice to leaders across the College
- Strengthen governance, risk and compliance practices in a way that is supportive, clear and easy to implement
- Build strong working relationships across all areas of the organisation
- Support a proactive and preventative approach to risk and safety
- Lead with professionalism, integrity and sound judgement when managing sensitive matters
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and help modernise systems and processes where needed
- Contribute positively to the culture and broader life of the College

Requirements
ABOUT YOU
You are a qualified legal professional with experience across legal, governance, risk and/or compliance functions within a complex organisation.
Importantly, you are practical, approachable and willing to roll up your sleeves to support the day-to-day realities of a busy and evolving workplace. You enjoy building relationships, working collaboratively and finding balanced, commercially sound solutions.
You will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (commerce, law, business, or equivalent)
- Demonstrated experience in legal, governance, risk or compliance roles
- Strong knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory obligations
- Experience reviewing and negotiating contracts and managing legal matters
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- High levels of professionalism, discretion and sound judgement
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- A proactive, adaptable and solutions-focused mindset
Experience within education, not-for-profit or similarly regulated environments will be highly regarded.
