This role leads the Asset & Liability Management (ALM) function within the insurance sector, ensuring robust balance sheet management, effective hedging and investment strategy support, and strong oversight of liquidity, interest rate, and market risks. You will provide actuarial leadership across ALM, solvency and capital management, and partner closely with Finance, Investments, Risk, and Product to deliver sustainable financial outcomes in line with regulatory and internal requirements.
Key responsibilities

• Own the ALM framework, policies, and governance, including escalation and reporting to senior committees.
• Lead solvency and capital analysis from an ALM perspective, including stress and scenario testing and management actions.
• Oversee asset-liability matching, hedging strategies, and balance sheet optimisation across key product lines.
• Provide actuarial input to pricing, product design, and reinsurance decisions to ensure ALM and solvency objectives are met.
• Deliver regular MI and clear narratives on solvency, capital, liquidity, and market risk movements.
• Manage, develop, and mentor a high-performing team; set standards for model governance and documentation.
• Engage with auditors and regulators as required, supporting reviews and regulatory submissions.

Requirements

• 10y+ relevant experience in ALM, solvency and actuarial leadership within insurance.
• Qualified actuary (or equivalent) with strong technical grounding in ALM solvency actuarial topics.
• Proven experience with capital/solvency frameworks, market and credit risk, and stress testing.
• Deep understanding of insurance balance sheets, liability cashflows, and investment/hedging instruments.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, able to influence senior leaders and challenge constructively.
• Demonstrable people leadership, including coaching, performance management, and talent development.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to translate complex analysis into clear actions.

Desirable

• Experience working in or with mainland China insurance markets and related regulatory expectations.
• Exposure to model risk management, validation, and governance of actuarial and financial models.
