- Director of Pharmacy Clinical Services
Description
The Director of Pharmacy Clinical Services provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for pharmacy services across the health system. This role oversees clinical pharmacy programs, quality and safety initiatives, fiscal stewardship, and workforce development to ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based medication use while maintaining compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Working in partnership with pharmacy leadership and interdisciplinary teams, the Director leads initiatives that advance clinical practice, improves patient outcomes, and leads strategic initiatives that enhance medication management, operational performance, and organizational goals.
Please note: This position requires travel to locations throughout our system of care.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides strategic leadership for pharmacy services across multiple sites, aligning operations, clinical practice, and departmental goals with organizational priorities.
- Partners with executive leadership and interdisciplinary stakeholders to drive organizational strategy, operational excellence, cultural transformation, and effective communication across the pharmacy enterprise.
- Oversees pharmacy quality, safety, regulatory compliance, formulary management, medication-use policies, and controlled substance stewardship to ensure high-quality, compliant patient care.
- Leads financial stewardship, workforce development, pharmacy technology, and system-wide initiatives while ensuring continuous 24/7 operational performance, innovation, and service excellence.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BSPharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
- Experience: Five (5) years of experience as a pharmacist, plus three (3) years of leadership experience over a pharmacy service.
- Equivalency:
- Completion of a Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) pharmacy residency is considered equivalent to two (2) years of professional pharmacy experience in a hospital setting.
- Completion of a Postgraduate Year Two (PGY2) pharmacy residency is also considered equivalent to two (2) years of professional pharmacy experience, for a total of up to four (4) years when combined with PGY1.
- Completion of a combined Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) residency is considered equivalent to four (4) years of professional pharmacy experience.
- Licensure(s): Licensed pharmacist in the state of Colorado
