Job Title: Development AssociateLocation: Washington, DC
Company & Position Overview:
A fully integrated real estate firm delivering leasing, development, investment, and advisory solutions through collaborative partnerships, disciplined execution, and deep capital markets expertise is seeking to add a Development Associate to support its national development platform.
The Development Associate will play an integral role in sourcing and executing both principal and third‑party development projects nationwide. This role offers hands-on exposure to all phases of commercial real estate development, from project inception through delivery, within a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and team-oriented environment.
The Development Associate will be responsible for:
- Cradle-to-completion involvement in development and third‑party construction management projects.
- Providing technical guidance and coordination for project activities including financing, design, construction, scheduling, and delivery.
- Reviewing and analyzing zoning information, contracts, financial reports, lease documents, and other materials as part of due diligence, deal negotiations, predevelopment, and closings.
- Developing project scopes, budgets, schedules, and proformas while ensuring project priorities and milestones are achieved.
- Generating, updating, and maintaining development budgets and financial analyses.
- Directly managing project teams including architects, engineers, general contractors, and third‑party consultants.
- Maintaining relationships with external partners such as tenants, brokers, contractors, subcontractors, and lenders.
- Actively contributing to strategic planning, project administration, and successful project completion efforts.
- Partnering with internal business development teams to provide technical direction and support for RFI, RFQ, and RLP responses.
The Development Associate should have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, Real Estate Development, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in real estate development, construction management, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of architecture, engineering, construction, development, and real estate finance principles.
- Strong financial acumen with well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with project management software is preferred.
- Highly detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of an organization.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel as project needs require.
- Demonstrated integrity and commitment to the highest ethical standards.
