| Description | The University of New England College of Dental Medicine (UNE CDM) invites applications for Associate Dean for Community Partnerships. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) 12-month clinical track faculty appointment at the Associate Clinical Professor or Clinical Professor rank with an administrative appointment as the Associate Dean for Community Partnerships. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Interviews of qualified candidates will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Located on UNE’s Portland Campus for the Health Sciences, UNE CDM is the only dental school in a region where access to quality oral healthcare is a persistent challenge, especially in rural areas. | Responsibilities | The Associate Dean for Community Partnerships reports directly to the Dean of the College of Dental Medicine (CDM) and is responsible for the overall management of pre-doctoral community-based experiential learning. The Associate Dean for Community Partnerships oversees maintenance of the CDM’s network of community-based clinical education sites and helps to ensure learning at these sites is grounded in the core values of humanism, compassion, evidence-based dentistry, and technical excellence. The Associate Dean for Community Partnerships provides leadership and calibration for the Community-Based Education site preceptor faculty on an ongoing basis and is responsible for compliance with the accreditation standards established by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. The Associate Dean for Community Partnerships works collaboratively with the Community-Based Education Manager to manage predoctoral students assigned to clinically-affiliated sites each semester. Additionally, the Associate Dean for Community Partnerships creates and maintains collaborative connections with philanthropic community health administrators, dentists (preceptors), and staff in clinics serving vulnerable populations in the interest of promoting oral health, enhancing dental student education, and increasing access to care for vulnerable populations in a financially sustaining manner. The Associate Dean for Community Partnerships works collaboratively with the other CDM Assistant and Associate Deans, Department Chairs, Group Practice Leaders, clinical leaders, and faculty to ensure students provide integrated and calibrated patient care. The Associate Dean for Community Partnerships is expected to have a preclinical, clinical or didactic teaching role, consistent with their area of expertise. The Associate Dean for Community Partnerships supervises one professional staff member, the Community-Based Education Manager. | Qualifications | Qualified candidates must possess a D.D.S./D.M.D. degree, or international equivalent and have successfully completed the NBDE Parts I & II or the INBDE and a regional licensure examination (e.g. ADEX). Specialists must have completed a CODA-accredited graduate program and be Board Certified, or eligible for Board Certification. The candidate must have active Maine Board of Dental Practice licensure (full license) by their start date. Other requirements include:
