JOB REQUIREMENTS We are seeking a Senior Design & Release Engineer (DRE) to lead the development of key components and systems within transmission, driveline, and electric drive (eDrive) systems.
This role owns end-to-end product development, from requirements definition and concept design through supplier sourcing, validation, and production launch. You will serve as a technical lead within the Engineering Center of Excellence (COE), partnering with cross-functional teams and global suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Own the full product lifecycle for transmission, driveline, or eDrive components (design, release, validation, industrialization) Define technical requirements, system architecture, and design concepts for components and subassemblies Lead supplier sourcing, technical reviews, and engineering collaboration with global suppliers Develop and release engineering drawings and specifications in alignment with GD&T standards Support virtual analysis, testing, and validation to ensure performance and durability Act as technical lead within the COE, driving design direction and resolving complex issues Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and program teams Present updates and technical decisions to senior and executive leadership Travel as needed to support supplier development and program execution
Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field A minimum of 5 years of experience in propulsion systems, automatic transmissions, driveline systems, or electric drive units A mininum of 5 years of Design & Release engineering (DRE) experience Strong knowledge of transmission, driveline, or EDU system functionality Experience within an OEM or Tier 1 supplier environment Proficiency in GD&T, engineering drawings, and virtual analysis tools Strong communication, leadership, and presentation skills Ability to influence cross-functional technical decisions
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Engineering Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
