Duties
Reporting directly to the President, the Vice President of Student Development is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of all student development programs and services. The Vice President implements initiatives to promote enrollment, retention and completion of Moraine Valley Community College's students. The Vice President of Student Development is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Supervise the members of the Student Development Leadership Team who collaboratively design, implement, and evaluate all Student Development programs and services
2. Collaborate with the President to inform and advise the Board of Trustees on Student Development initiatives
3. Assess the impact of student development efforts and initiatives, including determination of student learning and documentation of institutional impact
4. Collaborate with members of the Executive Leadership Team to ensure that Student Development initiatives and activities are integrated and coordinated with the other divisions of the college, develop procedures to implement the Code of Student Conduct, ensure student due process, and design procedures for students to express concern
5. Direct the Student Development Leadership Team to create and implement professional development programs for Student Development faculty and staff members
6. Ensure that the college is in compliance with all state, federal, accrediting, and other regulations pertaining to student development areas
7. Develop strategic priorities, annual goals, and objectives for the division, and direct and participate in the development of long-range planning for reporting departments and monitor progress toward established goals
8. Direct and coordinate the preparation of annual staffing, expense, and capital budgets for reporting departments and oversee the administration of approved budgets, including preparing and administering an extensive annual budget
9. Act as the college's representative to external vendors, partners, and agencies on matters relating to areas of responsibility
10. Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and chair/participate in all committees as appropriate and as requested
11. Establish clear student development goals with measurable outcomes and accountability
12. Lead student success initiatives with a focus on improving student retention and success outcomes
13. Provide leadership for Enrollment Management and Financial Aid teams
14. Utilize knowledge of Athletics and the National Junior College Athletic Association ( NJCAA )
15. Use data analytics and student assessment to identify retention challenges and measure program effectiveness
16. Support accreditation and program review
17. Support collaboration between Student Development and Academic Affairs
18. Serve as co-lead on the college's Strategic Enrollment Management Plan
19. Serve on the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference committee
20. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the President
Education/Experience
- Earned doctorate degree required
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive higher education experience with increasing responsibility, including significant leadership experience in student development or a related college administrative area. Community college experience preferred
Qualifications
In addition to the education and experience requirements noted above, the following qualifications are sought:
- Ability to establish direction and create a collective vision within the division
- Proven leadership in higher education
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate and advance various priorities involving multiple staff members
- Demonstrated achievement and proven background in strategic enrollment planning, financial aid, and advancing student success initiatives
- Understanding of regulatory compliance and higher education best practices
- Demonstrated experience working with a diverse and multifaceted student population, combined with a commitment to student success
- Experience with crisis management, student conduct, and Title IX compliance
- Successful record of collaboration between Student Development and Academic Affairs
- Understanding of Athletics and the National Junior College Athletic Association ( NJCAA )
- Experience with data-driven decision-making and student assessment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with students, faculty, staff, community and stakeholders in a personable and professional manner
- Collegial management style and willingness to be part of a collaborative team

Hours
General Hours:
Monday-Friday
8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Some evenings and weekends may be required.
On call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Salary/Wage
$180,000-192,000 (The salary for this position is highly competitive and is coupled with a very strong executive-level benefit package)
