- Sr. HR Generalist
Description
The Senior Human Resources Generalist is a key onsite HR partner at a manufacturing facility located in Lacassine, LA. This role reports directly to the Director of Human Resources with a dotted-line relationship to the Plant Manager, ensuring strong alignment between corporate HR strategy and daily plant operations.
The Senior HR Generalist acts as a trusted advisor to plant leadership while providing day-to-day support to employees across three shifts. This position requires strong HR expertise, sound judgment, a hands-on approach, and the ability to balance strategic priorities with operational needs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Primary Job Duties:
- Investigate employee issues and conflicts and resolve them confidentially and professionally.
- Manages the recruiting process for all open positions, including sourcing, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding all plant personnel.
- Manages payroll and timekeeping administration, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
- Develops, recommends, implements, and enforces personnel policies and procedures.
- Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
- Maintain and update attendance, recruitment, training, and other employee-related information on web-based HRIS and in employees' personnel files.
- Ensure the organization's compliance with local, state, and federal regulations by maintaining required departmental records, postings, and reports, including I-9, E-Verify, EEO, FMLA, and OSHA recordkeeping requirements.
- Administers all employee benefit programs, including health benefits enrollment, claims management of all disability and life insurance, and creates and promotes a wellness programs.
- Assists the corporate safety manager with conducting new hire safety training, OSHA training, accident investigations, and workers' compensation claims.
Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned, including projects or assignments to support the organization.
Working Conditions:
- Office environment with frequent exposure to a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment, where ambient air temperature can occasionally exceed outside air temperature
- Must sit and view a computer screen for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity for operating office equipment (e.g., computer, calculator).
- Must be able to bend at the waist and knees, walk, and stand for extended periods.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The plant has 3 shifts and would require at least 1 day per week staying late or coming in early to cover the 3rd shift.
- This position is an onsite role at the manufacturing facility in Lacassine, Louisiana.
Requirements
Required Experience, Skills, and Education:
- Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or a related field is highly preferred, minimum of 5+ years in a progressive HR role.
- Experience with payroll processing and HR administration.
- Knowledge of labor laws and regulations
- Ability to work with and communicate (verbal and written) effectively within all levels of the organization and any external contacts.
- Ability to self-motivate, problem-solve, and work in a dynamic environment
- Extreme attention to detail and the ability to think strategically
- Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Must be computer literate and proficient with Windows, MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and a HRIS system
Preferred Experience, Skills, and Education:
- Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or a related field
- SHRM-CP or willingness to obtain within the first year of employment
- Experience with Paycor or a similar HRIS system
