- Senior Marketing Business Development Specialist

Cohen & Gresser (“C&G”) seeks an experienced Marketing Business Development professional to join our BD & Marketing (“BDM”) Department. This position will focus on the development and execution of targeting marketing business development strategies, initiatives and pursuits to support the firm’s growth objectives across our practices and office locations, with a focus on some of the firm’s key practice areas. This position will report to the firm’s CMBDO and interact with all members of the firm’s BDM team as well as the firm’s attorneys, outside vendors and resources.
Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Resource and advisor:
Develop in-depth knowledge of and act as firm resource regarding attorney expertise, practice group expertise, client base data, firm experience, industry/trade group organizations, legal, industry and business trends, practice-specific marketing materials, and practice-specific media
Assist CMBDO with the implementation of BD training programs and projects
BD research and analysis:
Prepare company, industry, and market research and provide insightful competitive analyses and reports
Review and report on internal and external data to identify potential BD opportunities
Writing and editing:
Draft and update practice descriptions, attorney biographies, and pitch-related content
Prepare pitches and presentations and assist with RFP responses
Go-to-Market Initiatives:
Takes an active leadership role in scheduling / attending practice group marketing/BD meetings
Portfolio reviews of clients to understand potential avenues for expansion
Work with practice leaders and core committees to build practice focused marketing/BD annual tactical plans and budgets
Working with practice groups and BDM team to execute on marketing / BD tactical plans
Facilitate the development of a robust client / prospect / referral list for marketing campaigns
Build, maintain and monitor referral program (list development, tracking, creation and execution of joint programs, etc.)
Creates and oversees e-mail marketing campaigns, complete with list development and tracking components
Identify networking events, speaking engagements, key sponsorships, etc.
Creates and manages all elements of conferences and events working with BD Coordinator including venue selection, theme creation, vendor relationships, collateral production, invitations, promotional items, etc.
BD activity and data management:
Manage the pitch tracking process, including identifying next steps that align with strategic goals
Update and maintain data in the firm’s experience database, client/contact lists, pitch and RFP libraries, and other BDM database needs, as necessary
Facilitate the planning and implementation of the firm’s BD activities
Liaison:
Develop strong working relationships with key partners in assigned practice areas, in all offices, and with other members of the BDM team and across departments
Prepare and present updates within the firm on BDM’s contributions to cross-departmental projects
Participate as an active member of cross-practice and cross-department initiatives
Project planning, tracking and reporting:
Track, advance, and report on the progress of various business development projects and initiatives with a proactive, diplomatic, and motivational approach
Ad hoc projects or assignments as appropriate
Qualifications and Desired Skills:
Minimum 5+ years of experience in business development, client development, or marketing in a professional services environment
Extremely strong verbal and written communication skills
Exceptional attention to detail
Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year accredited college or university
Excellent project management skills and organizational ability
Experience with business research platforms and CRM systems
High competency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Interpersonal Skills:
Intellectually curious self-starter
Outstanding client service orientation and listening skills
Ability to work independently without direct guidance on recurring assigned tasks
Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects with little direction
Strong work ethic and able to work against deadlines
Comfortable and confident in interacting with firm leadership and attorneys
Able to represent the department and the firm in a professional and positive manner
This position is based in our New York office with a current hybrid schedule of 3 days in-office, 2 days working remotely. This is an exempt position with an expected salary range of $130,000 - $155,000 depending on experience.
