As a Manufacturing Engineer 3 you will provide technical leadership supporting assembly and test manufacturing operations through process development, production troubleshooting, fixture design, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for demonstrating commitment to and leadership of environmental health and safety principles, policies and procedures.
- Plan, develop, and improve manufacturing processes supporting assembly and test operations.
- Analyze assembly processes to maximize efficiency through optimization of workflow, equipment layout, and standardized assembly methods.
- Design, develop, and implement assembly tooling, fixtures, and workholding solutions to support production requirements.
- Provide engineering support for production operations by troubleshooting process, tooling, and equipment issues affecting quality or throughput.
- Support development and improvement of torque-controlled assembly processes including tooling selection, verification methods, and process documentation.
- Participate in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) activities by providing manufacturing input during product design and development.
- Lead or contribute to Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) activities to identify manufacturing risks and implement effective process controls.
- Research, design, develop, test, and improve manufacturing processes by studying product design, manufacturing methods, and production equipment.
- Support manufacturing technologies including vision inspection systems, laser engraving equipment, and manufacturing test systems used in production processes.
- Conduct audits of assembly processes and work instructions; solicit observations from operators to identify improvement opportunities.
- Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing workflow, space requirements, equipment layout, takt time, and cycle time.
- Assure product and process quality by validating manufacturing processes, supporting capability analysis, and confirming manufacturing standards.
- Maintain operational readiness of production tooling and equipment by coordinating maintenance and repair activities.
- Maintain product and manufacturing process documentation within company systems.
- Participates in the company's efforts to continuously improve Safety, 6S, Quality, Delivery and Productivity.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior manufacturing engineers.
- Expected to be a contributor to the company standards on high integrity, safety, fair and equitable treatment and a positive work environment
- Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate or necessary by the VP and/or management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor's Degree with 47 years of prior manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment or a combination of related experience, education and/or training sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
- Contributes to moderately complex aspects of projects and works independently while collaborating with cross functional teams.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing engineering concepts, practices, and procedures related to assembly and production environments.
- Experience with GD&T and SolidWorks or similar CAD software for fixture design, tooling development, and engineering documentation.
- Strong understanding of assembly processes including torque-controlled assembly methods, assembly tooling, and standardized work development.
- Experience supporting Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) reviews and providing manufacturing input during product development.
- Experience developing or supporting Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) activities.
- Experience developing manufacturing process flows and improving production workflow
- Understanding of manufacturing performance metrics including takt time, cycle time, throughput, and line balancing.
- Experience supporting automated manufacturing systems such as vision inspection systems, laser engraving equipment, or manufacturing test systems is beneficial.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex manufacturing issues and support root cause investigations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, identify and address problems, meet deadlines, stay within budget and work under pressure.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with production personnel, supervisors, quality, and cross functional engineering teams.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting and bending throughout the work day.
- Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, to include working in and around machinery, exposure to noise and chemicals, lights/lasers, etc.
- Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protection Equipment as required by your position and/or Company policy.
