Position Overview
UGI Utilities is seeking a motivated intern to support our IT department's AI development and implementation initiatives. This role offers hands-on experience in applying artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies to solve real-world challenges in the regulated utility industry, supporting our enterprise-wide AI transformation strategy.
Key Responsibilities
AI Solution Development Support
- Assist in developing and testing AI-powered automation solutions for business processes
- Support natural language processing (NLP) projects for document processing and form validation
- Contribute to proof-of-concept development for AI use cases across utility operations
- Help build and refine prompts, workflows, and integrations for AI platforms
Technical Support & Analysis
- Support the evaluation and documentation of AI tools and platforms for enterprise applications
- Assist with data preparation, cleansing, and validation for AI/ML model training
- Help monitor and troubleshoot AI system performance and user adoption
- Participate in testing and quality assurance for AI implementations
Project Collaboration
- Work with cross-functional teams including GIS, SAP, Field Services, and business operations
- Document processes, findings, and best practices for AI solution development
- Support change management activities and user training for AI tools
- Contribute to presentations and reports on AI project outcomes
Qualifications
Required
- Currently pursuing Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Basic understanding of AI/ML concepts and applications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Interest in learning about enterprise systems and utility operations
Preferred
- Familiarity with Python, APIs, or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
- Experience with AI platforms (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar)
- Understanding of data analysis and visualization
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle and agile methodologies
