Position Overview

UGI Utilities is seeking a motivated intern to support our IT department's AI development and implementation initiatives. This role offers hands-on experience in applying artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies to solve real-world challenges in the regulated utility industry, supporting our enterprise-wide AI transformation strategy.

Key Responsibilities

AI Solution Development Support

• Assist in developing and testing AI-powered automation solutions for business processes
• Support natural language processing (NLP) projects for document processing and form validation
• Contribute to proof-of-concept development for AI use cases across utility operations
• Help build and refine prompts, workflows, and integrations for AI platforms

Technical Support & Analysis

• Support the evaluation and documentation of AI tools and platforms for enterprise applications
• Assist with data preparation, cleansing, and validation for AI/ML model training
• Help monitor and troubleshoot AI system performance and user adoption
• Participate in testing and quality assurance for AI implementations

Project Collaboration

• Work with cross-functional teams including GIS, SAP, Field Services, and business operations
• Document processes, findings, and best practices for AI solution development
• Support change management activities and user training for AI tools
• Contribute to presentations and reports on AI project outcomes

Qualifications

Required

• Currently pursuing Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or related field
• Basic understanding of AI/ML concepts and applications
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
• Interest in learning about enterprise systems and utility operations

Preferred

• Familiarity with Python, APIs, or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
• Experience with AI platforms (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar)
• Understanding of data analysis and visualization
• Knowledge of software development lifecycle and agile methodologies
