Job Overview
Manage and direct all Horse Butte Operations, including Vestas personnel, sub-contractors and balance of plant activities including but not limited to substation, feeder circuits, budget activities and planning.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assumes responsibility for all site activities.
- Train or coordinate the training of other UAMPS employees, contractors such as Vestas and sub-contractors in project operations, safety, environmental, or technical issues.

- Track and maintain records for wind operations, including site performance, downtime events, parts usage and unexpected grid and/or outage events.
- Maintain operational records, Vestas work orders and turbine maintenance files and other documentation.
- Complete / maintain all inspections needed / required on project to keep site compliant with safety, operations, regulatory, and compliance.
- Provide technical support to wind farm member-owners, employees or subcontractors.
- Have working knowledge of project, including manuals, turn over documents, configuration files, network diagrams, and current contracts, etc.
- Have a working knowledge and familiarity of high voltage sub yard and its related components.
- Manage and monitor warranty repair and replacement services.
- Order parts, tools, and equipment needed to maintain, restore and improve wind farm operations.
- Integrate / set up of upcoming CMMS system for tracking / maintaining assets, PM’s, purchase orders, billing, and coding of all expenses.
- Continue to develop relationships and communicate with customers, contractors and sub-contractors, landowners, Federal, State and Local authorities including BLM, FWS, IDFG, BPA and RMP representatives and local neighbors.
- Prepare wind farm operational budgets and provide cost estimates associated with operations including repairs and preventative maintenance items.
- Forecast and maintain expense tracking for project.
- Code all invoices / expenses to related budget line items.
- Maintain, forecast, and track major maintenance budget; current to looking forward 10 years.
- Supervise employees, contractors, or subcontractors to ensure quality of workmanship with adherence to contractual obligations, safety regulations, policies and procedures.
- Review, negotiate, and submit for management approval of wind farm related contracts.

- Assumes responsibility for ensuring professional relations with all members, professionals, and external contacts.
- Ensure that members are billed for correct amount of energy used by HBW during low wind days.
- Communicates regularly with members through PMC reporting. Provides support and answers to questions.
- Conducts formal training at conferences and seminars as assigned.
- Ensures that professional business relations are maintained with members.
- Promotes goodwill and a positive image of the Company.
- Assumes responsibility for maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relationships with area personnel and other departments.
- Keeps area personnel and other departments well informed of outage notifications, wind forecasting and resource data to support planning and decision making.
- Provides support and outage notifications to Power Schedulers as needed.
- Coordinates scheduling and functions to ensure smooth operations and coordination of information.
- Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
- Ensures that work and turbine site area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
- Stays informed of industry, market, and power trends.
- Attends professional meetings and seminars.
- Provides reports of the group’s activities.
- Completes special projects as assigned.
Performance Measurements
- Analyses, forecasts, and projections provide meaningful information to the Board of Directors and senior management for planning and strategic decision-making.
- Members are well supported, informed of critical information and updated on site occurrences.
- Reports and projects are completed accurately and timely, and in accordance with established requirements.
- Good coordination and effective working relations exist with other departments. Senior Management is well informed of significant problems and solutions are provided with an action plan.

Being able to lift 50lbs. stretching, moving, being physically fit to climb a wind turbine.
Working Conditions
Working in harsh environments at times i.e. rain, snow, muddy roads and harsh conditions.
Requirements
Education/Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in management, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of work experience and education.
Required Knowledge
Excellent knowledge of UAMPS operations.
Knowledge of wind turbine design and operation technologies.
Understanding of reporting processes including graphs, charts, spreadsheets, and database management.
Required Experience
3-5 years of related experience.
Required Skills/Abilities
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Strong technical and analytical skills.
Able to organize, summarize, and report data.
Solid oral and written communication abilities.
