- Community Outreach & Scheduling Coordinator
Description
About the Role
This role is ideal for a former Campaign Coordinator, Deputy Campaign Manager (External), or senior operations staffer looking for a focused, late-stage campaign sprint.
This congressional campaign is hiring a highly organized, execution-focused Community Outreach & Scheduling Coordinator to support an 8-week sprint through the March primary election.
This is not a consultant role and not a campaign manager role. It is an operations-forward position for someone who has already handled external outreach, stakeholder coordination, and candidate scheduling in a campaign, nonprofit, government, or institutional setting and can hit the ground running.
The Coordinator will own the identification, outreach, follow-up, and scheduling of high-ROI community engagements across Illinois’ 7th Congressional District, including churches, senior centers, and community organizations. This role includes building new community relationships from scratch and developing an outreach pipeline that transitions cleanly from persuasion into GOTV.
Requirements
Core Responsibilities
Outreach & Identification
- Identify churches, senior centers, community organizations, and institutions with high voter turnout or trusted community influence in IL-07
- Proactively surface outreach targets beyond the campaign’s initial list
- Exercise judgment in assessing which engagements are high-ROI and which are not worth pursuing
- Prioritize outreach based on voter density, turnout likelihood, and accessibility
External Communication & Follow-Up
- Conduct cold and warm outreach via email and phone using existing baseline scripts, with flexibility to adapt tone while maintaining message consistency
- Manage persistent, professional follow-up with organizational gatekeepers
- Track outreach status, responses, and next steps in a shared system
Scheduling & Calendar Management
- Own the candidate’s community engagement scheduling pipeline
- Cluster engagements geographically and strategically to maximize time efficiency
- Coordinate logistics and confirm details for all booked engagements
Preparation & Tracking
- Prepare brief, one-page summaries for each engagement (audience, organization mission, key considerations)
- Log engagement outcomes (supportive, follow-up needed, referral, etc.)
- Maintain documentation to support both persuasion and GOTV phases
Ideal Candidate Profile
This role is best suited for someone who:
- Has prior experience in campaign operations, community outreach, nonprofit partnerships, government relations, or executive scheduling
- Is comfortable independently identifying and prioritizing external stakeholders
- Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Is highly organized, detail-oriented, and relentless about follow-through
- Understands how to protect and optimize a principal’s time
- Can operate with minimal supervision in a fast-moving environment
Strong preference for candidates who have:
- Worked on political campaigns, ballot initiatives, or civic engagement efforts
- Managed external calendars or partnerships for a senior leader
- Experience working with faith-based or senior-serving institutions
- Familiarity with Chicago or IL-07 communities
Hybrid Role:
The role is primarily remote. Occasional local travel within IL-07 may be helpful for relationship-building, but it’s not a daily/weekly requirement.
- Examples:
- Stopping by a church office to drop off a flyer
- Visiting a senior center to introduce the campaign
- Attending a community meeting occasionally
- Making a warm handoff to a gatekeeper
What This Role Is Not
- Not a strategy or consulting role
- Not responsible for messaging or policy development
- Not a volunteer position
- Not an entry-level role
- Not a learning or training role; candidates should be ready to operate independently
