The Opportunity
Fathom Manufacturing is hiring a Commercial Leader to own growth, utilization, and commercial performance for our Outsourcing Business Unit—a strategically critical engine that expands capacity, flexibility, and speed across our national manufacturing platform.
This role exists to do one thing exceptionally well:
turn outsourced manufacturing capacity into a predictable, profitable growth engine.
You will own the commercial strategy for outsourcing—driving demand, shaping the partner mix, accelerating deal velocity, and ensuring outsourced programs meet Fathom's standards for margin, quality, and customer experience.
What You'll Own
- Revenue growth and margin performance for the Outsourcing BU
- Pipeline creation and conversion for programs routed to external partners
- Utilization and capacity leverage across domestic and international partner networks
- Commercial strategy and deal structure for outsourced work
- How Fathom shows up to customers when outsourcing is the right solution
You operate as the commercial owner of outsourced manufacturing, with authority to shape strategy, pricing, and execution.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue & Pipeline Ownership
- Build and maintain a strong, velocity-driven pipeline for outsourced manufacturing programs
- Win new logos and expand existing accounts where outsourcing accelerates speed, scale, or cost advantage
- Ensure outsourcing is positioned as a strategic solution, not a fallback option
Margin & Commercial Discipline
- Own pricing strategy, deal mix, and margin performance across the Outsourcing BU
- Make deliberate trade-offs between speed, cost, risk, and customer value
- Partner with Finance to ensure outsourced programs contribute meaningfully to EBITDA
Partner Network Leverage
- Collaborate closely with sourcing and operations to align demand with the right partners
- Influence partner selection based on capability, reliability, cost, and customer need
- Ensure partners are set up for success before programs are launched
Execution & Customer Experience
- Maintain accountability for quality, delivery, and responsiveness across outsourced programs
- Act as the escalation point when programs drift off-track
- Ensure customers experience outsourcing as a seamless extension of Fathom, not a handoff
Cross-BU & Network Integration
- Work closely with internal sites to balance insourced vs outsourced demand
- Identify opportunities where outsourced programs can later transition in-house—or vice versa
- Support enterprise-level accounts with flexible capacity strategies
Leadership & Visibility
- Own commercial reporting for the Outsourcing BU, including pipeline, bookings, margin, risk, and capacity outlook
- Provide regular, direct updates to Executive Leadership on performance and opportunities
- Shape how outsourcing is understood, sold, and executed across Fathom
Who You Are
- Proven success in commercial leadership, B2B sales, or general management within manufacturing or engineered services
- Deep understanding of outsourced manufacturing, partner networks, or contract manufacturing
- Comfortable owning revenue, margin, and execution—not just relationships
- Strong commercial judgment and the ability to make fast, informed trade-offs
- Confident operating across sales, operations, sourcing, and finance
- Energized by ambiguity, ownership, and building scalable systems
What We Offer
Health & Protection
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage
- Company-paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability
Time & Security
- Paid time off, floating holidays, volunteer time off, and sick time (state-dependent)
- 401(k) plan
