Job Description: Attorney – In House
Mandeville Louisiana Construction company is currently searching for a full-time In-House Attorney. This position provides dedicated legal counsel to a local construction company, focusing on risk mitigation, contract review, bid document review, post bi reviews and dispute resolution. Key responsibilities include managing claims/litigation, ensuring regulatory compliance, and advising executives on project-related legal risks to ensure project success and profitability.
The position is on-site in our Mandeville, LA office. Mon-Thurs 8:00AM – 5:00pm and Friday 8:00AM- 3:00PM
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Contract Management: reviewing contracts, sub-contractor agreements, and other legal documents
Legal Counsel: Providing advice on employment issues, insurance coverage, and corporate matters related to projects.
Litigation: Representing the company in administrative hearings, arbitration, and overseeing external counsel on employment-related lawsuits.
Risk Management & Compliance: Ensuring company operations comply with local, state, and federal construction laws, including safety and DOTD regulations.
Claims & Dispute Resolution: Handling disputes, such as liens, delay claims, change order disputes, and construction defects, often leading mediation or arbitration efforts.
External Counsel Management: Coordinating with outside law firms for litigation and specialized legal matters.
Qualifications and Skills
Education: A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and licensure to practice law.
Experience: 5–10+ years of experience in construction law, either in a law firm or in-house setting.
