Description
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking an Associate Attorney to join a practice focused on the intersection of government and business, with an emphasis on insurance regulatory matters. This is a growth-track position with direct mentorship from a senior practitioner who remains actively engaged in client matters. The role offers a pathway toward subject-matter expertise and long-term client relationships.
WHY THIS ROLE IS UNIQUE
This is not high-volume litigation or isolated research work. You will engage on matters where legal, business, and political factors intersect. You will learn how regulatory systems function, how industry decisions are made, and how to guide clients through issues that do not always have a template answer. Ideal for a candidate who wants to build a niche and become known for problem-solving in this space.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
J.D. from an accredited law school.
Licensed to practice law in Louisiana or ability to become licensed promptly.
2-7 years of legal experience preferred; however, we will consider any candidate, regardless of level of experience, who is highly motivated and demonstrates the capability to succeed in this practice.
Prior exposure to insurance regulatory, administrative, government, or business regulatory work is a plus but not required.
Demonstrated ability to apply legal knowledge to real-life, fact-specific situations, particularly where there may not be a clear precedent.
Strong research, writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to handle complex and sometimes ambiguous legal issues.
Demonstrated attention to detail, accuracy, and organization in written and oral work product.
Comfort working with senior practitioners and high-profile stakeholders, including business and political leaders.
Excellent judgment, integrity, and professionalism.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support senior counsel on a wide range of insurance regulatory and government relations matters, including:
Regulatory filings, approvals, and compliance issues.
Licensing, form and rate filings, and other regulatory submissions.
Legislative and regulatory monitoring and analysis.
Conduct legal research and analysis on novel issues with limited precedent; present practical solutions that balance legal, business, and political considerations.
Draft and review memoranda, regulatory submissions, opinion letters, comment letters, and advisory materials.
Participate in meetings with clients, regulators, and industry stakeholders; assist with legislative, regulatory, and industry presentations.
Maintain high standards of client service: responsiveness, clarity, proactive communication, and ownership of deadlines.
