The Assistant Housekeeping Manager is responsible for assisting in the oversight of the entire housekeeping area, to include public areas and night cleaning. This requires a solid understanding of housekeeping and laundry supplies and pars and will assure all safety and security policies and procedures are followed. These responsibilities may also include staff training, development and scheduling. The Assistant Housekeeping Manager will promote an atmosphere that insures customer and associate satisfaction. This position reports directly to the Executive Housekeeper and requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to effectively deal with guests, other departments and team members.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Assist in managing all housekeeping operations, including guest rooms, public areas, laundry, and linen services.
- Ensure cleanliness and presentation standards meet hotel brand expectations.
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, corridors, public spaces, and back-of-house areas.
- Monitor room status and coordinate with Front Office and Engineering departments for efficient room turnover.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests, complaints, and special accommodations.
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise housekeeping supervisors, room attendants, housepersons, and laundry staff.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
- Prepare staff schedules and assign daily work duties.
- Promote teamwork, professionalism, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Ensure staff compliance with safety, sanitation, and OSHA standards.
Inventory & Budget Control
- Monitor housekeeping supplies, linens, uniforms, and equipment inventory.
- Assist in controlling departmental expenses and minimizing waste.
- Coordinate ordering and receiving of housekeeping supplies.
- Report maintenance issues and damaged items promptly.
Quality Assurance
- Maintain high levels of guest satisfaction and cleanliness scores.
- Ensure compliance with hotel standards, health regulations, and safety protocols.
- Participate in quality audits and implement corrective action plans when necessary.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain housekeeping records, reports, and inspection logs.
- Assist in payroll preparation and attendance tracking.
- Support departmental meetings and training sessions.
- Prepare operational reports for management as needed.
The salary range is between $60,000 and $65,000.
Qualifications
- A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment.
- Refined verbal and written communication skills.
- 2-3 years of progressive hotel Rooms Management experience
- Service oriented style with professional presentations skills
- Hotel/Hospitality degree an asset
- Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to improve the bottom line
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills
